Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lilly Lewy
Lilly was an extraordinary person. Born in pre-war Czechia into a well-to-do Jewish family, her childhood was shattered by the rise of Nazism. She became one of the famous Kindertransport children. Fortunately, she adapted well to English life and remained in London for the rest of her life. Everybody who knew her in the ‘Write your own Memoirs’ class was fascinated not only by her stories of the past, but by her hilarious observations on the life around her in everyday North London. She possessed a fierce intelligence and an uncompromising sense of clarity about the world. Having been a reliable member of the Memoirs class for 15 years, she will be much missed. (Write your Memoirs 10.30-12.30 Fridays in room 1.30 and on Zoom)
