Class Details

When we have completed our discussions, started last year, on the history and social history of the later Roman Empire, we’ll be looking in a similar way back over the ancient world generally and reading and discussing some topics such as, e.g. the transmission of ancient texts down the ages; writing and book production, the history of ancient libraries, museums and centres of learning; the deciphering of inscriptions on stone, coins, papyrus, ancient calendars and annals etc.
