History: The Revolutionary French 1789 - 1871

Fortnightly on Jan 13, 20; Feb 3, 10, 17, 24; March 3. 

We will start with 1789 and move on to the nineteenth-century revolutions, 1830, 1848 and 1870-1, looking at political, social, economic and cultural issues in the revolutions.  I will illustrate my talks with paintings and cartoons online. I have recently published a small book with the same title, published by Routledge.
