Famous people and their illnesses In this course we will explore the medical history of well-known people, some long dead, and consider how their illnesses may have affected their lives. For example “How did Alexander the Great die at the height of his military powers?”, “Was George III’s madness hereditary?”, “How did Renoir create such wonderful art whilst crippled with arthritis?” and “Was JFK well enough to be President at such an important time in world history?”. We discuss whether their illnesses may have affected their behaviour and the outcomes.
