A note from the Update team
We are letting you know, and you probably realise, that this new term has brought added stress and extra work to your editors, the Office and the other staff who are all volunteers. Indeed, the editors came very close to abandoning the Update altogether!
Instead, in order to continue to cope, we wish to publish a slimmed-down version of it in future i.e.
Some sections, such as Notices from Outside Organisations and the regular Class News contents of forthcoming classes, will not be included.
Some issues may only contain the timetable and – perhaps – urgent notices
So Coordinators –
- always make a point of checking Gilli’s draft of the timetable (as she asks you to) when she sends it to you each Tuesday.
- If you have an urgent notice that you need featured in the Update, make sure you include the name of the class, and all details about its date, time and location – the editors don’t have time to hunt for these.
- Items for the Update must be sent to Maureen even if you need to send them to Gilli or Gail or Amalia or the U3A Office for other reasons. Only items sent to Maureen with the subject line ‘For the Update’ will appear in the Update.
- Those coordinators who regularly have an entry in the Update, please tell your class members what they need to know – do not tell us, or the Office.
- Members – do not get in touch with the Office if it isn’t vital, but check the timetable, website and notices in the Common Room and on the corridor notice board.
In this way, we hope to continue to keep you informed each week.
A notice from the U3A Company Secretary
Please note that our next Executive Committee Meeting (ECM) will be held on Friday 11th October 2024 at the Old Town Hall in Room 1.22 and via Zoom at 10.00am.
From the U3A Office: To all
U3A in London members: when you became a member you agreed and signed that you would enter the building with your entry pass and lanyard. Unfortunately, there some members who come into the building without their passes. WacArts are unable to keep issuing day passes, and if this continues you will need to come to the u3a office and buy a replacement card at a cost of £5. Please do not express you anger to WacAarts Reception, it is a safety requirement that you have this pass and wear it when you are in the building. Thank you for your co-operation.
