An expectant audience for Shirley Levy’s class on Greek Mythology
From Richard Arthur, our U3A Chair:
“Our Executive Committee, which meets twice each term, needs new members due to retirements at the end of four-year terms. If you feel able to help guide our U3A to new heights, please fill in a nomination form (from the office) by March 3.”
A request from the Update editors:
Please take careful note of the following: If you need a notice that is urgent (like an imminent class cancellation) or important (like those about the heating issue of last term) to appear in the Update, you need to send it by the Tuesday evening before you want it to appear. You need also to provide the correct wording to be used in the notice, including, in the case of classes, the name of the class, its coordinator, and its date, time and location/Zoom. Thanking you in anticipation.
The Monday Talk
Plague Houses and Pandemics in London Alison Wall discusses the events leading up to the Great Plague of 1665 and the locations of the pest houses both demolished and still standing. She looks at strategies employed in other epidemics including smallpox and diphtheria, right up to the present day with the recent Covid pandemic.
The timetables for the week
Copies of The full timetable, the Town Hall room timetable and the Zoom timetable are available in the Common Room and on the corridor noticeboard.

From Eric Mentzer: ‘Social Bridge is available for all U3A players on Fridays from 12.30 to 4pm. Please note that players joining from other classes can play in either Room 1.30 or the existing room, 1.29 (also known as the Art Room) which can accommodate 7 bridge tables). Experienced players are available for guidance if advice is required as 1.30 also has a door to 1.29 which gives easy access to tea, coffee & biscuits in the Common Room.
