U3A in London members’ Silver Visit to the King’s Gallery
From U3A London Maintenance, U3A London Health and Safety and WAC Arts
Urgent maintenance work on the building’s heating system commenced on November 4th and will take at least three weeks. An underground gas pipe needs fixing
We received an undertaking that as many heaters as necessary will be provided. Coordinators, please ask for one at reception.
During this period, the main entrance will be closed for safety reasons. Access will be redirected to the side entrance which leads to the Atrium, Art Block and all internal routes. We ask all building partners, clients, staff, and visitors to follow the posted signage and use the temporary route. If you have specific requirements such as VIP visits, or need further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
It is also important to re-familiarise yourself with the emergency evacuation routes. The areas affected by this maintenance only include the side parking, imperial staircase, and main entrance; alternative emergency routes will be available during this period.
Please note that the side parking area will be designated for loading and unloading related to contractor work. You may, however, continue to utilise our rear parking area and the designated front disabled parking spaces.
The Monday Talk
‘From Alchemy to Chemistry’: Amalia Michaels will trace the roots of modern chemistry back to the alchemists. This includes the third part of her course in the Summer Programme.

Sad News
Sad News, Annette Morant, who has recently died, we felt was a rather special person. Confined to a wheelchair after a stroke, hers was a familiar face at most of our Zoom meetings and she never failed to make a valuable contribution. Even after a second stroke, she continued to supply entries for the ‘To make you smile’ part of our Updates. We will miss her.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE
If you will need a wheelchair or evacuation chair to exit the building in an emergency, please contact the U3A Office Thank you.
There is a new U3A Events noticeboard opposite the office.
